I just emailed this letter to my Governor. I hope every one of my fellow Americans will do likewise.
“Dear Governor Landry,
As my governor, you are bound to the US Constitution and the Louisiana Constitution. Your chief obligation is to “…take care that the laws be faithfully executed…”
As a governor, your duty is primarily toward the laws enacted by our state’s legislature, but your “oath of office” requires that these laws and their execution are with fidelity to the US Constitution.
Likewise, our Article I, Congress, and Article III Supreme Court are bound by their oaths of office to abide in support of our national governing document.
Our Article II President has gone rouge in direct opposition to existing federal immigration laws, and lately the Supreme Court has assisted the office of the President in this violation of clearly written federal immigration laws, in defiance of the needs of border states.
As we witness Texas’ attempt to enforce immigration laws and the Article II and Article III assault on Texas, we are reminded that a similar debate occurred in 2010, in Arizona.
In Arizona’s case, challenged by the unwillingness of the federal executive to enforce immigration laws, their legislature passed laws which mirrored federal laws, and their governor signed them into Arizona law.
When all was said and done, the Supreme Court ruled that no state is able to enforce federal immigration laws, even if they were to pass those same laws in their own state.
In actuality, the Supreme Court, the body charged by our Constitution to adjudicate constitutional compliance, forbade the enforcement of the laws they were constitutionally required to uphold.
This week we are experiencing a repeat of this miscarriage of justice in the treatment of Texas.
Our current President has shown us that our Supreme Court lacks any enforcement mechanisms. President Biden has refused to honor several Supreme Court rulings, and openly defies the Court.
It is time for Governor Abbott to take his cue from our President. And it is time for every governor, of every other state to voice their support of Texas’ non-compliance.
No law-enforcement body, in all of the United States of America is bound to abide by unconstitutional laws or rulings.
Our President, his Attorney General, and many other current Executive Branch officers are worthy of impeachment, and their orders should not be respected if we intend to continue as a nation.
I ask you, as the governor of my state, to make it known that you and the state of Louisiana stand in solidarity with Texas and their plight. We support the enforcement of federal immigration laws, and openly defy the current trend to violate laws in favor of non-citizens over American citizens.”
God bless you, Dave
