I have often referenced Steve Deace’s mantra,
“America is not a nation of laws, and it never was. America is a nation of political will, and it always will be.”
I have resisted this idea, and on occasion, offering my opinion that the American sovereign, “We the people,” should redirect the political will that America should become a nation of laws. Liberty is equal opportunity, and equal justice under the law.
On today’s program, “The Deace Group” posited that we, (who likely view ourselves attempting to “conserve” constitutional governance,) might instead be leading a revolution to establish, (or reestablish,) the constitutional government that our framers had sought to construct.
You may need to reread those last paragraphs a few times to let what I’m saying sink in.
Are not these two ideas related? Don’t they harmonize, and symphonies with each other?
Let’s meditate on what this means for a few minutes.
I believe that it is irrefutable that the founders, those that pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor, to construct the greatest and most enduring governing document known to man, intended that America should be a nation of laws. They expressed this intent often. But, how long have these standards been ignored, and violated by those that have first pledged to uphold, and defend them?
I wonder, how many of the articles, sections, and amendments of the US Constitution have been faithful adhered to in recent decades?
What can be done? How do we “conserve” these principals when the most powerful representatives, of both major political parties either ignore them, or pervert them? I don’t take this lightly, and I don’t think my fellow Americans should either.
This presents a serious obstacle. Would it be righteous to break laws to reassert lawfulness? How do the unelected, non-political, reform our elected and appointed politicians?
I think that the Deace group are on to something. If our federal government were following our constitution, we would be right to conserve it.
Since our constitution is continually violated, it is not effectively governing our nation. We therefore might want to reassess our position, and recognize that what we need is a revolution. Hopefully not a violent revolution, but a revolution none the less. Can we be modern day revolutionaries, waging a righteous battle for the future of this nation?
Americans need to learn our constitution, and beginn to insist that we reject anything less. It will not come easily, it will take time and attention, but the fruit of doing nothing will likely be catastrophic for our society, and that of rising generations.
As Jessy Kelly likes to say, our road to redemption is, “local, and legal.”
Convention of states is an organization of citizen activists that have come to realize that America is in great need of reformation. Through the organization, COS Action, ordinary citizens can find ways to use their talents, and through teamwork, informing their neighbors, build the largest army of political activists, dedicated to the reformation and restoration of the USA.
