I have been a big fan of Senator Kennedy ever since I heard him speak forcefully for things that have made America the greatest, freest, and most prosperous nation in the history of the world. He has done so in hearing after hearing over his tenure. He has had a knack for asking the questions that concern me and making the proclamations that I believe need to be made, fighting for our nation as our constitution would have us to.
There have not been many political candidates that I have financially contributed to over the years, and I’ve not contributed to National Republican committees in over 20 years because of their refusal to stand for what I see as important constitutional objectives.
The last candidate I financially contributed to before the 2022 election cycle was Ben Carson. I chose to violate my objections to giving my hard-earned money to politicians this year because of my concern for the destruction being wrought upon our nation by the majority powers in the Whitehouse, Senate, and House of Representatives since January 2001.
One of the candidates I chose to contribute to this year was John Neely Kennedy. I believed him to be a constitutionally minded representative. His rhetoric has suggested, time and again that he agrees with our constitution, and me, on most issues.
HOWEVER, his first action since he was reelected in 2022 was to vote to keep Mitch McConnell as leader of the republican caucus in the US Senate.
Mitch McConnell?!
He has a 44% F Liberty Score on Conservative Review. This means that his votes in the Senate agree with those of Chuck Schumer 56% of the time.
Is this a conservative? Yet my “conservative senator,” whom I contributed to, and voted for, chose to allow Chuck Schumer’s chief Republican enabler to continue undermining the control of what passes the Senate in favor of Schumer’s interests.
I am ashamed of his behavior since the 2022 election and ashamed of my vote for him and ashamed of anyone who is not as devastated as I am by the behavior of our previously revered senator.
I am appalled to have been so deeply deceived, and I pledge not to forget this when he stands up, “verbally,” in committees, pretending to defend the US Constitution, and pledging to defend the concerns of Republicans in Louisiana. I now believe that this is an act, to deceive, and convince conservatives like me that his goal is to return America’s control to our constitution.
Rhetoric is not supposed to be the function of senators. Their function was intended to be the representation of their state and the constitution of the United States of America. He threw in the towel in this ensuing congress in his first official act after the election. He helped to give the control of our Senate entirely to Joe Biden, and Chuck Schumer, even before the new Congress could be seated.
What a treasonous act. I find it contemptible beyond my ability to describe.
God bless you, Dave
I no longer give money to the Republican Party as I am more a conservative than a Republican. I am still a registeted Republican because I once changed my party from Republican to Conservative but the Registrar of Voters showed my party as “other.” I am not an “other” but am a Conservative Christian.
Sad state of affairs indeed...
