DECEITFUL WEIGHTS
Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights? Micah 6:11
In a recent article, I wrote, “It is the creation of money out of thin air that 'is' inflation because it devalues all American currency in circulation at the time it is added.”
To this a reader commented in part, “According to Harris, which seems correct to me, money isn't physical. It's abstract, or mental, I guess. It's similar to points on a scoreboard, or piece of paper, etc. where points are recorded.”
I’d like to focus on what I believe to be the root foundation of this assertion, “money isn't physical. It's abstract.”
Are points on a scoreboard really abstract? Are they not important? Does no one care if they accurately depict the winners of games?
Hundreds of billions of dollars change hands every year in sports, and nearly all of these transactions are determined by “points on scoreboards.”
If I were continuing this discussion I would ask if the work we perform is abstract. Do we not really labor to produce products and services?
Is it really acceptable to us that the wages of real work are compensated in the abstract?
This seems farcical to me. I don’t believe that anyone would knowingly agree to surrender that which they had labored to acquire for something abstract, having no intrinsic value.
I believe that it is obvious that anyone claiming to support such insanity is trying to deceive us.
The Bible addresses false weights.
If anyone is confused as to why I would relate weights to currency, it is because in bible times precious metals were used as currency. The volume of goods would be determined by weight, and its compensation in gold or silver would also be determined by weight. In this way, equitable exchanges were transacted.
The use of deceitful weights, or uneven scales would only be for fraud and theft.
For those who believe God to be the righteous judge, and the Bible to be His instruction to us on all matters, we should consider these passages.
Lev 19:36, “Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.”
Deu 25:13-16 “Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.
Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.
But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
Pro 16:11 “A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work.”
Pro 20:10 “ Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.”
Pro 20:23 “Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.”
Mic 6:11 “Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?”
It is obvious that those who purport that money is abstract seek to deceive and defraud others, violating every standard presented in scripture.
We must all determine if we believe in standards, and what those standards might be. Shouldn’t we be held to biblical standards, and shouldn’t we also demand that others, (including the Federal Government, and the Federal Reserve,) be held to these same standards?
God bless you, Dave
“Duty is ours, results are God’s” John Quincy Adams

Great article!! While the scale at the grocer may be accurate, the money we pay for the pound of ham is just an abstract??? I don't know who Harris is but it seems the abstract for a pound of ham keeps inflating and inflating. Americans are tired of paying higher prices for gas and the cost is NOT an abstract or mental. Perhaps Harris has a lot of points on his board but a laborer is not satisfied with something mental after sweating his butt off for 40 hours.
Lord, bless Dave for all his writings and labor to turn Americans back to God and to return the nation to the Constitution as founded.
