DISCIPLESHIP
Working out our salvation in a secular society
Each Christian is called to a God-ordained position in the Body of Christ. They have been fitted into a custom convocation that was created by the author of creation.
Along with the spiritual aspects of this calling, Jesus told his disciples that they were to go into all the earth making “disciples.” He did not simply require them to bring salvation to “all the earth,” they were to, “make disciples.”
What does this mean? Were they to inspire, or require their followers to “enter the ministry?” Were they to quit their jobs and become ministers, pastors, or evangelists?
Let’s ask a simple, but profound question. If every Christian were to become a minister, pastor, or evangelist, where would their subsistence come from? Where would they get the finances needed to build and operate their churches, raise their children, and feed themselves?
As their congregants became saved, should they all abandon their occupations and begin preaching the word as their vocation?
NO, I believe that we are built for God’s purposes. We all have traits that in some cases are strengths, and in other cases are weaknesses. When fitted into the broad scheme of God’s calling, we edify the Body Of Christ, and we complete the calling of our Lord.
Likewise, we all have a contemporary, physical existence that is also a part of God’s calling. We must produce wealth, and we are charged with tithing from that wealth into the earthly kingdom of God.
That calling requires us to address every area of life as it is The Kingdom of God, and that includes politics. We are called to faithfulness.
Politics is the rulership of civil societies. Our society will either be ruled by people of integrity or reprobates. As free American citizens, and sovereign rulers of the United States of America, it is our duty to address this earthly rulership of our nation with the same gusto that we address bringing our neighbors to repentance, and salvation.
I am attaching links to podcast episodes that will demonstrate how some of our Christian brethren address this obligation.
Some of them may be on your ballot this fall. I beg you to put in the effort necessary to make wise choices in your voting booth.
