"…the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, they say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.” John 8:3-4.
We are likely all familiar with this record, but have we ever really understood it fully? This verse plainly states that the woman was, “taken in adultery, in the very act.” So where was the man? Was she really engaged in the act of adultery alone? If not, could it be that this man was not known to these Jews, or was it not impossible for her to be caught, “in the very act,” without the presence of her partner in crime?
This represents a very common tactic of our enemy, the devil. He magnifies one part, or feature of an account, above that which he seeks to obscure, and many people fall right into his trap.
We are all convinced of the guilt of this woman, and the forgiveness rendered to her by God through the ministry of Jesus the Christ, but what of the man, her co-sinner? Was he also forgiven, did he receive salvation through the righteous judgement of Jesus? WE ARE NOT TOLD. Was his guilt obscured in the hullabaloo made over the the woman, and hidden from public scrutiny?
As I bring this up I am thinking of a contemporary example of this technique being used in plain sight against us regarding Florida’s governor, and Disney Corp. It seems that it is being employed by our media, Democrats, and many Republicans, as they criticize Governor DeSantis for his efforts to defend preschool to elementary school minors against billionaire corporations, and reprobates that have assumed power in the public school system of Florida, and the Disney Corp.
What am I talking about, (you may ask?) I am quite sure that there are those who are suggesting that as the Florida Legislature, and Governor seek to hold Disney accountable for their egregious assaults on the citizens of Florida, the Floridian citizen will absorb the cost of this change.
It is possible that I have misunderstood their insinuations, but if that is so, perhaps there are many others that likewise have misunderstood.
The fact is that Florida’s government has withdrawn huge tax benefits which had been extended to Disney. This will not increase the tax burden on the Florida citizen, this will increase the tax burden on Disney. If Disney chooses to pass this burden on to their customers, so be it, (this is undoubtably what will be done.) So Disney will likely suffer a reduction in visitors. Awe, so sorry.
How might this translate to an increase in the tax burden for the Florida citizen? Disney has been benefitting from a huge exception when it comes to taxes, and regulations. If they begin paying the increase in their tax liability, Florida will enjoy a financial windfall. If they choose to leave Florida, or reduce their footprint on the Florida economy, they will likely still be required to pay more into the Florida coffers than they have to this point. If Disney suffers the loss of many of their customers, at the new, increased tax burden, would it not be likely that their tax bill would still be greater than it has been in the past?
I think that our media, and political elites are trying to pull a heads they win, tails we loose caper on us. Be not deceived, listen to what is being said, and ponder it logically.
Increasing the tax liability, and equalizing the regulation burden on Disney to that of similar companies will be a financial benefit to the citizen of Florida, and the average Floridian will benefit immensely.
Win, win, if you ask me, and the Florida government has the right idea. Trust me, time will prove me right.
God bless you, Dave
