I know that some believe that due to the devastation that the Biden Administration has brought to our nation in his first two years in office, we are headed to a Republican landslide in November.
Others warn against becoming too comfortable in anticipation of this possible landslide.
Still others are concerned about election fraud, afraid of another theft of the presidency in 2024, and even more eminent, Congress in November of 2022.
My concern runs deeper than any of these outlooks. What if the Republican Party is successful in gaining huge majorities in Congress, like they did in 2014. The American people will have spoken so loudly that no amount of shenanigans could overpower their voice. What happens next? How will these duly elected Republican majorities react to this incredible power, and mandate from the American people?
Let’s look at history for a minute. Well, what happened from 2014 to 2016? Between 2010 and November, 2014, The House of Representatives had passed bills to revoke Obamacare over 70 times. After the election where Donald Trump became President, Congress, with Republican majorities in Both houses were unable to pass these bills, and present them to President Trump to sign into law. What do you think happened?
I believe that though the Republicans in charge knew what the American people wanted, because they had campaigned on it through two election cycles, yet they never accomplished what they had promised their constituents. Why, I wonder was this the case?
My concern is not whether Republicans will gain the majority in November 2022, it is whether they execute constitutional leadership in January of 2023.
Mitch McConnell needs to be put out to pasture. He is not interested in constitutional governance. He has no love for the country, and he is without principals.
Kevin McCarthy has been in Congress for more than a decade, and has been the Republican leader since 2014. Until recently, he has never shown a connection to the conservative wing of the Republican Party.
I wonder if patriots should expect any conservative leadership from him, should Republicans regain a majority in the House.
Does it make any sense to allow seniority to determine who is the leader of the House?
Likewise, in the Senate, Mitch McConnell has proven for many years that he has no affection for the US Constitution. He has no affection for constitutionalists, and he has no problem allowing Democrats to triumph over Republicans in the Senate.
I believe that this is not to be tolerated. Should Republicans regain majorities in either, or both houses of Congress, new leadership is a must, and seniority should not be a factor.
New blood is essential if the constitution is to be defended. There are several well established Republican leaders in Congress. The choice of leadership should be selected from within their ranks. If the rules currently prohibit it, they should be amended.
At the beginning of each new Congress, rules are decided for that term. Republicans should vote for the rules that their constituents believe in, and hopefully the “people” will have effectively communicated their will.
I am committed to electing effective constitutionalists to Congress in November, and I hope that millions will join me in lobbying our representatives in Congress to begin leading the way back to the Constitution.
God bless you, Dave
