As evidence against gun ownership, and 2nd Amendment arguments, Violence Policy Center, posted in an article by Sally Martinelli, on Dec, 11, 2014, that 506 shooting incidents, accounting for the deaths of 679 people were committed by legal concealed carry gun owners between 2007, and 2014.
These facts are offered to suggest that, in the words of the author, “This information also comes as the latest academic research shows that state laws allowing concealed handguns in public do not protect public safety — in fact, they do the opposite. A recent study from Stanford University concludes that state concealed carry laws actually lead to an increase in violent crime.”
The words, “ increase in violent crime,” are used to suggest that violent crime, absent the policy of, “allowing concealed handguns in public,” would be less prevalent. This is called a comparison, but a comparison requires at least two options. Only one is provided. I will provide what I believe is, (while not a direct comparison,) a fair comparison. One that would be obvious to any thinking person, actively concerned with the outcome.
That amounts to 72 shootings per year, in all of the United States of America. That comes to an average of 1.44 shooting by a legal concealed carry American per state, per year. If you find these facts alarming, you might want to compare them to the number of shootings in one day, in one city, of one state with some of the strictest gun laws in America.
“5 dead, 24 wounded in weekend shootings across Chicago,” CBS news Chicago, 5/29/2022.

“According to the Washington Post’s tracker of mass public shootings over the past 50 years (defined as a shooting where at least three were killed), there were 948 such culprits, and they came from nearly every imaginable race, religion and socioeconomic background. Additionally, 145 were children or teenagers.
And while the NRA boasts over five million members today, and has been around for the entirety of modern American history, not a single mass public shooter has been a known member.” Matt Palumbo , in the “Political Insider,” Nov 7, 2017.

We should wonder about the agenda of those who will deliberately misrepresent facts.
