FIXING WHAT WE CAN FIX
How do we find suitable candidates for office?
The 2023 Louisiana legislative session yielded many protections of our constitutional liberty, but many other protections were successfully impaired by the efforts of Democrats, RINOs, and our Governor.
As we approach the 2023 Louisiana elections, there are Representative and Senatorial districts where incumbents should either be preserved, or replaced.
Some of our legislative representatives have been stalwart warriors for righteous government. These should enjoy our whole-hearted support. Others have served to undermine the trust of their constituents in pursuit of their own personal goals. These have come both from the Republican Party, as well as the Democrat Party.
How do we know which category our Particular Representative and Senator fall? Is it enough that we know how popular they are, or should we educate ourselves on their actual performance on our behalf?
I can speak for the Senator representing District 12, Beth Mizell. She is a committed conservative, (constitutionalist, on matters federal and local,) and a Christian. She takes her responsibility to our society very seriously, and she has gone to battle on our behalf often and faithfully. I believe that we should do political battle on her behalf.
Therefore I am enthusiastically supporting her for reelection in this year’s election.
My representative in the LA House is a Democrat, Robby Carter. He has supported some of the causes I deem important, and fought alongside many heroes of the 2023 session of our legislature.
I recommend support of LACAG, (Louisiana Citizen Advocacy Group) and their efforts to inform Louisianans of our legislators' performance and political stance. There is a sister website, “Freedom State,” for our edification.
LACAG also offers a podcast, “The State of Freedom,” where Chris Alexander and Danielle Walker begin each episode with a passage of scripture, setting the atmosphere of the political discussion to follow. I look forward to each episode with great anticipation.
They have recently finished an excellent series on “election integrity,” and are now featuring candidates for election, and reelection in the next term of our legislature.
In these episodes, we can gain an understanding of the spiritual and political philosophies of these candidates, their motivations, and passions.
I believe this to be an essential resource to set the mood for our choices at the 2023 Louisiana “ballot box.”
God bless you, Dave

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.” (by Reinhold Neibuhr in the 1930s)
