I just unsubscribed to inquiries from Senator John Kennedy for my support. I intend never again to vote for him or contribute in any way to his reelection. As I have previously written, the Senate’s first order of business after the 2022 election was to extend Mitch McConnell’s reign as the worst Republican leader of the Senate in my lifetime.
He continually leads the Republican contingent to aid Chuck Schumer in passing bills into law that I believe most Republican voters reject. I voted for Senator Kennedy because I believed that he would stand in defense of me, against Schumer.
I was wrong about that, and I will not be deceived again.
I wonder how many liberty lovers are discouraged, confused about why it seems that no one with political power turns out to have the integrity, and fortitude to follow through with what they have led us to believe they truly believe in.
Well, I’ve been stewing over this dilemma for weeks now. How can I inflict some consequences on my Senator for his betrayal of his voters? While I am not vicious I would like to inform Mr. Kennedy of my displeasure.
Sure, I can call his office and talk to someone that may, or may not relay my message to him. I can write to him of my displeasure in snail-mail and email. I can visit his social media, and leave comments, but they all seem a little weak. I’m looking for a way to get his attention.
As I said in the first paragraph, I have landed on an idea that if enough people were to join me, we might be able to do that.
Since the November election, rarely a day has gone by that my email inbox has not contained some solicitation from Kennedy’s office, seeking my support for something. I have resorted to immediately deleting them. I do not open, or read them. I don’t have a clue what “important concern” he is asking my help in addressing, because he abandoned me in my first priority of senatorial concern. He helped to remove the only defensive political weapon from my hands and slip it between my ribs while I was counting on him.
Since I will not be supporting him in any cause he feels inspired to undertake, I can keep deleting his emails, or I can “unsubscribe” from any, and every Kennedy group that finds access to my email address.
I believe that if enough of us disgruntled Republican voters use this strategy, He, and maybe other elected politicians just may get the message.
Anyway, I think it is worth a try. I have gone through my “StartMail” inbox and unsubscribed from everyone that is associated with Senator John Neely Kennedy. I will next do the same with my gmail account, and I encourage you to do the same.
Think about how you might further these goals in other ways, and share them with your friends. It is well past time for we who love our nation as originally constructed to use the instruments at hand, to effect the changes we need.
The enemies of liberty have been actively using those instruments to undermine their usefulness to support liberty for many decades. It’s time for us to also engage.
There was a reason why God instructed Gideon to keep whittling down the number of his forces before the battle. Was it because those that were eventually eliminated from the army were less committed to the fight? Maybe, the Bible doesn’t tell us. Was it because they were too weak, or too easily deceived? I don’t know what the Bible doesn’t tell us.
What the Bible does tell us is that God wanted all of Israel to KNOW that HE was their salvation, HE was their defender. HE was their warrior and victor.
I am not discouraged by those that believe that God has withdrawn his favor from America. I believe that they are deceived. I believe that they are among those not needed to confront the enemy. They are not reliable in the cause of restoring our great nation.
Only the faithful few, and God Almighty are needed, and I plan to do my best and make John Quincy Adams’ answer my own. “Duty is mine, the results are God’s.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
God bless you, Dave
