A few years ago terrorists boarded aircrafts to embark on an attack against Christianity, liberty, and America. Their plans worked so well that they were able to level the most revered financial monuments of the USA, and the world.
In the wake of this occurrence, a professing “christian pastor” proclaimed, among other things, that, “America’s chickens had come home to roost.”
Many Americans were offended by this accusation, but is there truth in it? I realize that the comment was meant as a criticism, and accusation that America is not a righteous society, but there may yet be some truth abiding here, though not quite as it was meant.
Had America become lost to the principals of our founding? Had the functions of our government been so perverted as to allow evil to prosper, and righteousness to be condemned?
How is it that we may have become so blind to truth that such an opportunity could present itself to the forces of evil aligned against our once Christian nation?
I believe that it is largely due to Pastors in the western church. I do not believe, however, that the average Christians, sitting in pews, are guiltless in this perversion of the Christian church.
How many of us have challenged our pastors to fulfill their godly calling, calling out the devilish doctrines creeping into our churchs and being forced upon Americans? How many of us have asked our Pastor why he has not opposed executive orders which specifically violate the very first amendment to our Constitution?
How many of us were easily convinced that it is loving to stay home, neglecting the gathering of the saints?
As Americans, and especially as Christian Americans, we are empowered, even required to reject the violation of any part of our constitution. “We the people,” are the highest in the hierarchy of authority of our governance. That means that the parishioners, and especially the Pastors in our churches have the highest authority whether we will gather for worship in our churches. No politician has a say, NONE OF THEM, not the President, not the Governor, none of them. How do I know this? The 1st Amendment, which is part of our US Constitution plainly says so!
There is a glaring parallel of our present, feckless American church, to that of Germany in the early 1930’s, and Eric Metaxas has revealed it in his new book, “Letter to the American Church.”
“Our responsibilities as Christians go beyond mere ‘evangelism.’ We pretend we would have spoken out for the Jews in Bonhoeffer’s day, or that we would have spoken against the slave trade in Wilberforce’s day, but are we speaking out today on the issues that are no less important to God in our time? If not, we are deceiving ourselves. But God is not deceived.”___Eric Metaxas, “Letter to the American Church.”
“Everyone in the world knows that a rooster cannot lay an egg and that a man cannot have a womb—and cannot menstruate or give birth or lactate or be a mother. But who will say it? Who will lead the way through the carnage of this ideological warfare? Who will hold up the battle standard— which is Jesus Himself— so that others can see and follow?”___Eric Metaxas, “Letter to the American Church.”
Are we willing to remove our head from a hole in the earth, (or maybe some other place,) face truth, and act accordingly. If the Church is afraid, we have no hope on Earth. If Satan’s helpers are free to exercise authority over our finances, our employment, our relationships, our children’s education, and especially over the priorities of our Pastors, we are of all men most miserable.
It is time for the Church, to be the Church. To lead humans to truth, to expose, and oppose evil, encouraging action born out of courage, and valor.
Is your Pastor leading you down the straight path, or the wide path? Is he encouraging you to follow the Gospel to eternal life, or simply to a fraternity named after Jesus? Is he opposing unrighteous decrees, and supporting the courageous Christian that says, “here, and no further!”
I encourage anyone reading my words to search your soul. Make an honest assessment of your Christian engagement, of the underlying doctrinal path of your assembly. Determine whether you are on the right path. Are your church leaders leading rightly, or do they need some prayer, and encouragement from you? Do they possibly even need a little reproof from you?
If your meditation reveals that you are remiss in any of these actions, should you not heed this warning, have the courage to repent, becoming faithful in these endeavors, or dare I say callings?
God bless you, Dave
