I have just finished, “Letter to the American Church.” It is a very brief read, though it would be hard to find a more pertinent essay to the church of the United States of America, at such a time as this.
I have noticed that some Americans relish the art of likening their political opponents to Hitler, while those of the opposing party are reluctant to even point out obvious parallels between the actions of the Nazi Party to those of the other major American political party, (or their accusers.)
This book points out how the German Church supported Hitler’s regime, opposing true Bible believers, like Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who warned of the utterly devilish nature of the Nazi Party. Twelve thousand German Pastors opposed Bonhoeffer, often citing Romans chapter thirteen.
Could the few American Christians who recognize the likeness of our present political leadership to the Nazis be mistaken? Or could the few American Pastors who recognize the ignorant path of our church leadership, quoting Romans thirteen in support of our present malicious political leadership be right?
Eric Metaxas makes important fundamental comparisons of our day to the early 1930’s. I believe that this is a timely read for every American, especially our Pastors.
God bless you, Dave
