“WE ALSO MAY BE LIKE ALL THE OTHER NATIONS.”
And the Lord said, “they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them.”
We are told that America should be more like other nations. Many among us envy European nations, and some extol the “virtues” of Cuba, and China.
Is this wise? Are these opinions congruent with those that inspired the settlement of our great nation? Was it to make another nation, “like other nations,” that gripped the hearts of men and women, causing them to forsake their present life, and risk the perilous journey across the ocean? Was it to replicate the conditions of Europe that many sold all the that they owned to accomplish, (in some cases selling themselves into indentured servanthood?)
I believe not, and I believe that American history confirms my position. But why do so many want us to abandon the true history and revert to the conditions of tyranny found in so much of man’s history? Why do our self-appointed “betters” want so much to replicate the same civic conditions that have failed many of God’s people through generations?
For many, I believe that it is is because they hope to gain from it. They hope that as the reigns of tyrannical government push down on the American society, they will be holding those reigns. They intend that you and I will assist them in climbing over us to the top of the heap. Many believe that they are smarter than most, and that their apparent wisdom, and intelligence entitles them to privilege, and mastery over the, “common people.”
These are the beliefs of people like Karl Marx, and Saul Alinsky. It is not that they, through their superior intellect, and vision, had figured out how to empower the, “masses,” to equity with the ruling class, and themselves. They thought themselves worthy of everyone’s respect, and that out of that respect, others were “fortunate” to be given the opportunity to provide for these, “intellectual giants.”
Anyone that doubts my assertions should read their own writings, and writings about them. Writings by their followers, and their detractors. One thing prevails in all of these writings, (as far as I have been able to ascertain,) These were incredibly selfish men. They were convinced that others should bow to their greatness.
Anyone that ignores the facts of the founding of the United States of America, in favor of the “nanny-state,” are like those Israelites recorded in I Samuel, chapter 8. They want to forsake the lordship of our loving, heavenly father, in favor of the rulership of some person, or people. People that are flawed, like the kings of the other nations of Samuel’s time. History records the results of this abandoning of God’s kingship, and trust in the fallible kings of Israel.
Do we really want to be, “LIKE THE OTHER NATIONS?”
I think not. God is our only king, and the US Constitution established His lordship for all Americans. Americans are not required to worship the one true God as a condition of citizenship, but the benefits of God’s kingship are guaranteed to all Americans through adherence, and fidelity to that founding document.
We either rely on liberty, and trust the wisdom of God, or we reject them, and seek the lordship of flawed people, effectively saying,“Give us a king to judge us,” “Like all the nations.”
