“There are three types of people in this world: sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. Some people prefer to believe that evil doesn't exist in the world, and if it ever darkened their doorstep, they wouldn't know how to protect themselves. Those are the sheep. Then you've got predators who use violence to prey on the weak. They're the wolves. And then there are those blessed with the gift of aggression, an overpowering need to protect the flock. These men are the rare breed who live to confront the wolf. They are the sheepdog.”

Chris Kyle was the man, (sheepdog,) upon which the movie, “American Sniper,” was based. He believed that his life had a purpose, and expended his life, till the end, pursuing that purpose.
Here in Louisiana, we have inherited decades, and generations of corrupt government at most, if not all levels. It is rare that “sheepdogs have risen to the level of popularity as a political candidate to acquire office.
Each election cycle we are faced with choices, and we then must live within the civil society that develops as a result of our choices.
The candidates which emerge seeking our support for each position fall within these three categories, and we, the voters, also fall into one of these three groups.
Some of our candidates are wolves. They lack integrity but are full of ambition. They may simply be interested in capitalizing upon the corruption that has been baked into the cake of Louisiana’s government.
Some of our candidates are sheepdogs. They are grounded in principle, hoping to “work heartily as unto the Lord,” recognizing the need for a buffer between the governed, and the typical, tyrannical thug, who aspires to have the masses provide them with the “kingdom,” or more accurately, “thief-dom,” that they desire.
Some of these candidates are simply sheep. They have some acquaintance with constitutional government and hope that they can raise to the level of civic government so that they might be respected as a servant of our society.
These “Sheeplike” candidates rarely go very far in their pursuit of political ambition because they underestimate the conviction and resolve of the wolves. They are ground to powder.
The other side of this equation is the voters. They too fall into these three groups.
Some voters are wolves. They hope for financial gain, or prestige acquired through the perceived beneficence of wolves with political clout. Their vote can be easily bought.
The sheepdog voters recognize the corruption of the process, and the wolves that present themselves as sheepdogs, or sheep, and they vehemently oppose the wolves in the race. Often the ignorance of these sheeplike voters causes them to underestimate the significance of these choices, deceiving themselves, and joining with the wolflike voters in support of the wolves.
This usually ends poorly, and these trends often prevail for decades, producing political tyranny.
Tangipahoa has suffered many decades at the mercy of politicians from the Edwards dynasty. Many of our citizens are aware of corruption within this dynasty but don’t seem committed to overcoming it.
Some are recipients of the “beneficence” of this dynasty, and thereby enthusiastically support the furtherance of this situation.
Some of us believe in the rule of the people, for the benefit of the people, and want to end this dynasty and replace it with officials of integrity.
Gerald Sticker is a man that has thrown his hat into the race for sheriff of Tangipahoa. Whether he is a wolf, sheepdog, or sheep is open for debate. I am not yet an advocate for his election. I am a concerned Tangipahoa citizen, tired of the Edwards dynasty, and hopeful for a new era of government.
I am impressed with what I have been able to learn about Mr. Sticker. I have spoken to him and read some of his bio, but I want to know more about his motivations, and ideas for the execution of his role as our sheriff.
I am disturbed by the lack of response to my appeals for interest in a meet & greet with Mr. Sticker.
Time is short. Sheriff Daniel Edwards will retire in 2024, and there are some candidates from within Edwards’ administration who hope to assume his position.
Are they qualified, or corrupt? Is Gerald Sticker qualified to overtake this position, or is he simply a power seeker from another source?
I don’t pretend to know the answer to these questions, but I do hope to find them out. I believe that the best way to accomplish this is by attending public fora in a quest for answers.
I have offered to host a meeting between Mr. Gerald Sticker, and as many Tangi residents as are interested. I am interested in inviting other candidates too. Mr. Sticker has already accepted my invitation, but as of yet, very few potential voters have shown any interest in attending.
I hope that this will not continue. I hope that concerned readers will comment on this SubStack platform, or on my Facebook page. Once I have enough interested participants to warrant a meeting, knowing how many will be in attendance, I can secure a venue.
